Barnhart Balfour Beatty provided general contracting services to construct two $17.2 million parking structures for the University of California San Diego. The Gilman Parking Structure, covering 48,450 square feet, is a six-story structure with a total of 861 parking spaces. The parking structure has an aesthetic precase concrete assembly at the entrance of the structure consisting of four precast legs protruding from the second story. The North Campus structure, spanning 56,776 square feet, is also a six-story structure with 973 parking spaces. The structure started as a sophisticated soil-retention system three and half stories underground.
