Barnhart Balfour Beatty completed this new baseball stadium for San Diego State University using the design-build delivery method. The new stadium was named for Padre and SDSU alumnus Tony Gwynn and replaced Smith Field, where the Aztecs began play in 1962. The $3.5 million stadium features 2,000 fixed seats, 1,000 temporary seats, a press box, and team locker/shower facilities. Approximately 1,200 of the aluminum bench seats were from the Aztec Bowl, which was demolished in 1995.
