Barnhart Balfour Beatty, in partnership with Black IPO, performed construction services on the new Abraham Lincoln High School located in San Diego. This $100+ million High School spans 323,196 SF in several structures over a 24-acre campus.
Lincoln High consists of four comprehensive high schools featuring 77 general classrooms, 16 science classrooms with eight science prep rooms, and seven technology classrooms. The new High School also has an arts complex, library, career center, and a 90- seat auditorium. In addition, there is a sports complex that includes two gymnasiums, an adaptive Physical Education room, weight room, and locker rooms. Outdoor facilities include baseball and track fields, basketball and tennis courts, and a football stadium complete with a press box and concession stands. The school also has 376-space parking garage for faculty and students.
The old school was demolished in fall 2003 due to deterioration. The campus was expanded to relieve high school overcrowding and restore regular grade configurations in the southeastern part of San Diego. The new high school reopened in September of 2006 to serve nearly 2,800 students.
